Reddit message boards today have been bombarded with a wave of identical spam-like posts touting ShibaPunkz. The posts say things like “sure to 100x”. And saying that it is a “Battle Royale Game”. Some of the posts call it a 1000x gem. The posts have been repeated on popular crypto message boards like OpenSea, NFT GiveAway, NFT Games, etc.
$SPUNK token was listed on June 25th. It is trading right on Uniswap. The market cap of less than 2 million seems low for a new crypto token, but it is very high for a game that is not clearly fleshed out.
We couldn’t find a demo of the Battle Royale game on their website. They don’t have a trailer for their game available either. But they did have some information about what they plan to do. They plan to burn tokens as people play the game. Which is an interesting approach. We haven’t seen that done before in exactly the way they plan to do it. It wasn’t very clear how the NFTs will fit in and what the entire Tokenomics plan will look like.
They also have started their own LaunchPad defipunkz.com. On this site they mention there trailer will be ready in August. We are interested to see it when it comes out.
What is different about this project is a product of today’s market. We did not see any mention of a big investment. They used their own launchpad. They put the token out on the market at a low price, and now someone is posting a frenzy of spam saying it should 100x or 1000x.
Battle Royale’s can be expensive to develop and there was no mention of where the funds for this development will come from. They are very early in their development cycle: with no demo, no trailer, and limited technical documentation. So we are left with the two questions raised: “Who is doing the spam?” and “Why now?”.
