THQ Inc. today announced that the Cars video game based on the Disney/Pixar film has achieved yet another major sales milestone by becoming a recent addition to the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and

PSP system "Greatest Hits," Microsoft Xbox "Platinum Hits" and Nintendo GameCube "Player’s Choice" retail programs. Cars was the number one selling kids video game brand, as well as the number two overall best selling video game in 2006. With this recent sales achievement, the title will now be available to a broader range of game players with the new suggested retail price of $19.99 throughout North America.

"Cars has been the fastest selling Disney/Pixar video game to date and we are extremely pleased with the title’s retail success," said Scott Guthrie, senior vice president, North American sales and distribution, THQ. "Having already sold-in nearly eight million units, this new attractive price point will make the game available to an even wider audience."

"We are excited by the tremendous success the Cars franchise has achieved across the world on multiple video game platforms," said Graham Hopper, executive vice president and general manager, Disney Interactive Studios. "Our successful and long-standing relationship with THQ has delivered a strong portfolio of Disney/Pixar titles that have become family favorites for gamers of all ages."

In addition to the recent achievement of these major sales milestones, THQ is expected to bring a new video game based on the highly successful Cars film to retail this fall. Cars Mater-National is scheduled to ship for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PlayStation 2 system, the Wii video game console, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance and will offer a brand new racing competition set in the famed animated world of Radiator Springs.
