According to papers filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 30th, by Herve Caen, (CEO and Interim CFO of Interplay), Atari and Interplay
have come to an agreement to make amends to a previous debt from 2004.
On July 24, 2008, Interplay and Atari entered into an Option Exercise Agreement which results in the ownership of intellectual property rights of Dungeons and Dragons games that were previously developed by Interplay. Exercising this option results in settling debts of over $1,050,000 from a promissary note thats was signed back on August 19, 2004.
Atari has already published a few D&D Titles, such as Demon Stone (PC-2004), Dungeons and Dragons: Tactics (PSP-2007), and the Neverwinter Nights Series (PC -2005). This move seems to be right up their alley. Our guess is this will be a new versions of those games for current gen consoles or PC.
Are we in for an upgraded version of Baldur’s Gate or another Planescape title? Maybe Wizards of the Coast will have something to say about all of this.
