Here’s what we know. Antonio “Papero” Marfuggi from SQUARE ENIX’s Brand Team wrote a blog post at the EU Playstation blog. In the post he mentions:
In just a few days, on Friday 13th November (we choose our numbers carefully!), you’ll see a very special announcement from the game’s development team, introduced to you on this very blog by the words of Yoshinori Kitase – FINAL FANTASY XIII’s Producer.
Whatever could it be?! Well given the venue for that teaser it’s likely to do with the PS3 version of the game. We also know that it will be released in Japan on December 17, 2009. Personally I can see it being a couple things:
- Some sort of demo is coming to Europe on the PS3 (testing out localization?)
- The release date for the PS3 will be announced (and probably be prior to the Xbox 360 release) and could even be before Christmas, doubtful as it is tentatively listed as Spring 2010
- Game will have both original Japanese and localized audio (far less likely as it’s not so big really)
It they’re taking time out of the Producer’s schedule (which is probably just going to be a blog post written by the PR people and signed by the producer) it should be a release date. Just have to wait until Friday and see.
