Nintendo today confirmed, at a press conference in Tokyo, that they will release a DSi with a larger screen. How much larger? How about 93% larger?
They’ve also announced that it will be available in Europe Q1 2010 but no date has been set for North America. I am personally putting money on Q3 because it would be perfect for Christmas and after a year demand would be fairly high in the States.
Kotaku states that the larger screen won’t mean better resolution, so no improved graphics for the DSi Masses. I’m sure this is just a question of ’gee, did we finally make it too small?’

Gamasutra reported that the new Nintendo DSi LL will be debuting on November 21st in Japan, priced at ¥20,000 ($220) and available in three colors (Dark Brown, Wine Red and Natural White), the DSi LL will come pre-bundled with three DSiWare titles (two brain trainers and a dictionary).
The unit is not priced to outperform the DSi and it’s not even a replacement. Instead Nintendo will move forward with two different units for now. That means the LL is an alternative, perhaps the bigger screen is aimed at the older generation of gamers who might have issues seeing the small screen. Me? I’m fine thanks, still using my first generation DS actually.
Perhaps this is a way to increase sales that have recently started faltering over at the big red N.
