Last week I mentioned our intuitive map editor system and how easy it was for anyone to use. The map editor tutorial video I included does a good job of showing off the conventional map editor controls. However, not too long ago, Phillip added a fancy new brush tool per our lead artist Aubrey’s request. The idea is that for certain scenes, you won’t want to have to place every object by hand. Sometimes you’ll want a whole random smattering of objects aligned with various random elements. This tool will be really good for placing things like plants and trees. The following video showcases what the new brush looks like in action. Unfortunately in the regular version it’s a little hard to see the control variables Phillip is tweaking so feel free to check out the HD version (though you might have to log into Facebook first).
Though there are still a few bugs here and there, we are now at a stage where the map editor is fairly complete. I will definitely show off the awesome things fans have been making with our editor soon. For more Overgrowth development news check out the Wolfire Blog.
