The first Majesty had only Attack and Exploration flags. In Majesty 2, we added a couple of new flags, of which the Protection flag seems to be the most important. Imagine that your caravan is moving along a dangerous route, or maybe you just started construction of a trade post on hostile land. Perhaps a horde of monsters has even attacked your main tower. In all these cases, a protection flag is really quite useful. This is how it works: after you set a flag and a reward price, several heroes will respond to it by traveling to the object upon which the flag was set and protecting it. They are gradually paid the reward money. In the course of time, the amount of money in the heroes’ pockets grows, and the amount of money on the flag decreases. After the heroes receive the entire reward, the flag disappears, and the heroes set out to spend what they’ve earned. The Protection flag, like other flags, can be removed in advance, but then you lose money. If a Protection flag is placed on a building, heroes who respond to it will stand near it or patrol the neighborhood, waiting for battle. It’s more fun to place a Protection flag on a living friendly unit and see how they get an unusual escort of several heroes
You cannot place a Protection flag on enemy units or buildings.
We see lots of possibilities for use of Protection flags in various game tactics.
