Yay! This is the first of many blog entries I plan on logging. If you're reading this, let me go ahead and warn you that I may say somethings that may be taken as moderately/highly offensive to several/all races, organizations, cults & churches, and school, but most of the time I say these things in jest. I don't realy expect anyone ot read any of this ****, but who knows. . .
The main purpose of this blog is to chronicle the progress that I makes on titles that I plan to review. Of course, I might rant and rave a bit here, too, but that is to be expected right?
First on the list:
Super Robot Taisen: OG Saga: Endless Frontier
Let me take a minute to catch my breath after that. . .whew. Ok, now on with the show.
Overall: 7.2/10
The plot of the game is kinda random and trivial, but the dialogue is quite amuzing throughout. You follow the adventures of Haken Browning, an expert gunman and bounty hunter, and his lovely, sexually-charged "assistant" android Aschen Brodel. Along the way, you pick up more sexy female companions including the 100cm wonder Nanbu Kaguya, "foxy" Xaiomu, and KOS-MOS for all you Xenosaga fan out there. SRT:OGS:EF does boast a 25-30-hour story mode, depending on your speed of play, with the option of new game+. The new game+ feature doesn't seem to add any content though, which I found kind of disappointing.
Storyline: 7.5/10
Like I mentioned before, the story here is nothing to shout about. When you look into the theory of the Endless Frontier and how it works, it kind of seems shocking that the story was not more robust. Don't get me wrong, the characters are funny, memorable, and likeable, but the overarcing plot felt stagnant about 10 hours into the game. To be far though, the game's spotlight is not the story it is the . . .
Combat: 9/10
The combat engine is the game is amazing! Nearly every attack can be chained together, allowing for 200+ hit combo once you get good. Certain attacks can also be cancelled early to charge up a Frontier Gauge which is used for a super combo attack to deal massive amounts of damage. While at first the system is kinda of hard to learn, after about 10 minutes I was pulling off 75-80 hit combos.
Replay Value: 5/10
While the game does have a new game+ mode, the only things you gain are you items and money from you previous save. I am a fan of this game and combat system, but there just is no real incentive to playing through the game again except for the max out a character's level and to read through the dialogue again.
