Last week I showed you the beginnings of the new Overgrowth light map system. This week I thought I'd show you how the new shadows look baked onto our environments in full color. It's surprising how much character and realism gets added by a subtle effect like shadows. However, Aubrey has been designing our assets from the beginning with shadows in mind so this is very important for the look and feel of our game.
Here's our old desert house, seen in the new lighting:

The next two screenshots show off shadows in the fan-made Foothold map:


And yes even the mighty Whale Man (an awesome fan-made model) has now seen his own shadow:
