Item reviewed: Fowl Space on PC

As a journalist, it seems that the easiest paragraph to write is always the first one; for me that is. Today I am faced with the dilemma of simply being at a loss for words. That’s right. Fowl Space, the new platformer from Pixelante Game Studios, has stumped me. Do I talk about the developer or a give short synopsis? Do I try to offer some small anecdote? To be perfectly honest, it is hard to introduce a game where you play as a “cock” shooting white fluid from a gun at Vikings and keep a straight face, so let’s just dive right into it.

Plot

fowl space video gameThe story of Fowl Space is told without any spoken words; just comic style slides. The story of AstroCock, a rooster frequently referred to more suggestively as a cock, is told through these images. One morning AstroCock is awakened by the sun, looking as if he is getting over an all night drinking binge and is pissed off. He raises his middle feather to the sun, exclaims “Cluck you!” and heads over to a rocket ship made out of a silo. In this “Silo-ship,” he flies to the sun to destroy it, but is shocked to discover that the sun’s surface is inhabited by Vikings who wear thongs, g-strings, boy shorts, and other types of ladies underwear.

In order to defeat these Vikings, you strap on a large gun to your back that shoots some un-named white fluid. As you travel from level to level, you will earn new guns which include a flame thrower, kitten catapult, and a “Meat Toy” gun (earned upon game completion). There is also a special weapon that flails 3 large Orca whales around you killing any enemy. With these weapons you can fight your way through the hoard of Vikings, collecting their kinky underoos and drinking coffee to regain health. Along the way you will find hats to be worn. These hats do nothing to affect gameplay, but each have a funny saying when you find them and can be stacked on top of the other.fowl space video game

The final boss is Parodio (a parody form of 8-bit Mario). Parodio continually states that “Your opposition is limp and tiny!” and “Your probing will do you no good!” Once you finally back him into a corner, he seeks refuge in some sort of large tank. The only way to defeat him is to drown him in the white fluid. Upon defeating him, you find a pickle in a stasis tube which you shoot, thus turning the pickle into an alien. After this, a single sperm impregnates the sun and causes it to blow up, and AstroCock returns to earth as the hero who restored coffee to mankind.

Our Rating for Fowl Space Review (Windows PC)
4.0
Replay
You will not get all the hats in the first play through, and challenge levels add an extra element, but replaying a 1 hour game only adds 1 hour to its life.
5.0
Graphics
Nothing astounding to be found here and perhaps this would have been a better flash game, but the graphics are at least adequate.
4.0
Sound
I felt like I was listening to the same sound loop over and over and over.
4.0
Gameplay
You run around with your jizz cannon cat-a-pult for an hour shooting at Vikings. Then it is just lather, rinse, repeat until it is over.

4.5
Overall
If you are into this type of humor, then you may get a laugh. Maybe! But if you are not into it, than I would avoid this game like the plague.
